LA TORRES LAKE NATIONAL RESERVE

Las Torres Lake, the ideal place for family kayaking.

Just two hours away from the northbound city of Coyhaique, we find the ideal place for kayaking, sport fishing, wildlife watching and camping.

Located 120 km. North of the regional capital, on the Carretera Austral, this attraction will leave you shocked. You will be surrounded by beautiful green valleys, you will have views of imposing peaks (“Las Torres”). All of the above, immersed in a protected lake which is generally calm, making it ideal for kayaking.

In Las Torres lake, there is a small camping with basic infrastructure, in addition to a small trail of no more than 500 Mts. It is possible to observe here some typical birds such as hummingbirds, rayaditos, huet huet and the famous Chucao.

The lake also presents excellent conditions for fishing, there are several areas of reeds where trout are fed and protected.

If you need supplies, continue north 10 km. you find Villa Amengual, a town that has warehouses.

Try to camp in the Embarcadero sector.

When you enter the campsite (Only place with camping space with lake shore), turn left and you will find an esplanade where you can easily park. Also, if you are lucky there is a wooden log table that you can use as a dining room. In that sector you can enter the lake with the kayak and there is the entrance to the trail for the sighting of flora and fauna.

Go sailing and you will find this gem.

There is a beach just in front of the esplanade, which will take less than 20 minutes to row. If you want to be on a beach only and with the best view, this is the place. Try to take everything with you (food and dry clothes) the ideal is to leave early and return late. Use the dry bag, take your camera and enjoy the surroundings.
