DESTINATIONS
KNOW THE BEST DESTINATIONS OF OUR PATAGONIA
SOUTH PUMALÍN PARK – SECTOR EL AMARILLO.
Pumalín, a world class place.
The Pumalín Park is located on the southern edge of the X region, on the Carretera Austral. This project, promoted by Douglas Tompkins, seeks to protect and conserve around 290,000 hectares of Forest. Its entornorico in flora and fauna, is home to many endemic species, including some of the last specimens that remain on the planet. This specimen is the threatened, enormous and millennial Larch, which perches like a giant in one of the must-see places to visit in Patagonia.
The Pumalín Park has several entrances. From Chaitén it is 25 km to the southwest, specifically next to the small town called “El Amarillo”. Here you can find a wonderful little town where you can stock up on food, fuel and crafts. From the town, you can access one of the 3 campsites in the Park, we recommend you follow the access road to the park to the end (approx. 20 minutes of travel), here you will find delimited spaces specially designed for the parking of the Motorhomes. This sector has bathrooms and laundries.
The Park has several marked trails, the most famous of which is the one that goes up to the Chaitén volcano, but it is a journey that will take you at least 6 hours to walk.
We recommend this place 100% for adventurers who want to be in the park, since they can carry out various activities.
